First off, if you’re going to get organized, you need to clean out your current wardrobe. Empty out your closet and drawers and start making piles: one for keeps, one for donate, and one for toss.
The keep pile is obvious; these are the clothes that you simply must have and can’t live without. You love them, they look fabulous, and they make you feel your best. Fold or hang up these clothes and then return them to their rightful place in your wardrobe.
The donate pile is reserved for clothing that’s still in good shape (no stains, tears, holes, etc.), but is totally not your style. It doesn’t fit, you never wear it (or have ever worn it), it’s WAYYY out of date, or it’s just plain “blah”. If you have clothes that you don’t like, don’t fit in, or don’t wear, this is the pile to put them in. Many people can benefit from your donation, plus, it’ll free up a lot of closet space. Wash them and then put them in a box or bag to be dropped off at a donation center this week.
If the clothing has rips, stains, tears, or is beyond recognition, it needs to be tossed. Feel free to recycle the fabric by making something cool, like a t-shirt garland
Not sure if it fits? Don’t put it back in the closet. Instead, try it on and then decide which pile it should go to. Far too often, we overcrowd our wardrobes with clothes that just don’t fit.

If the clothing has rips, stains, tears, or is beyond recognition, it needs to be tossed. Feel free to recycle the fabric by making something cool, like a t-shirt garland or a patchwork quilt. Or, if you are in need of some new cleaning rags, cut these pieces up and use the rags for dusting. There are plenty of ways for you to recycle clothes that are well past their prime. See what creative ways you can come up with and share with us in the comments!
That’s it – once those clothes piles are complete, it’s time to put them where they belong. Put your keeps back in the closet and then marvel at all of the free space and freshly folded pieces. You may find something you forgot about! For the donate pile, make sure those clothes are clean and ready to go — you don’t want to procrastinate on getting them where they belong! Finally, for the toss pile, get creative and repurpose. Remember, we’d LOVE to hear your ideas on how to reuse some old clothing!

January is that time of year when you get to wear and enjoy all of those super cute holiday jammies that you got as gifts during the season. But after a few wears, it’s time to put them away. In fact, now is the time to put ALL of the gifts away and start getting organized. With the addition of new sets of jammies (and probably some new outfits from Santa), it’s important to keep things neat and tidy. Not only does it look good, but it also makes you feel a lot less stressed. I mean, c’mon, we’ve all been there: the piles of laundry, the do-not-go-in-there closet, the trashed dresser drawers. It’s enough to make anyone feel on edge!
So, in honor of National Get Organized Month, Jammiegirl has some tips to help you make room for all of those new designer pajamas you got during the holidays (oh, and the sweaters too!). We know you’ll feel so much better once you get your wardrobe refreshed and organized. Plus, with a little extra space, maybe you can even treat yourself to some comfy loungewear or a fluffy bath robe! OK – Let’s get started with some ground rules to take you through the process:
1.) If it’s dirty, it needs to be washed. We’ve all found some clothes in the wayyy back of our closets or dressers that are musty or just need some TLC. Give these pieces a washing when you find them.
2.) Drawers and closets need dusting too! When you undertake the task of cleaning out your wardrobe, be sure to wipe down the shelves and vacuum the floor of the closet. Giving it a good cleaning from time to time will keep it tidy while avoiding dust bunny build-up.
3.) Want to spruce up your closet or drawers? Try adding scented sachets or cedar hanger disks to keep things smelling fresh.
4.) Need to overhaul your closet? Try adding organizers like shoe racks, shelves, drawers, or baskets to help you keep your clothing separated and neat. If you’re having trouble, try heading down to a home improvement or organization store and asking for some assistance. If you describe your needs, they can usually point you in the right direction.
5.) You don’t need to go out and buy new clothes to revamp your wardrobe. When you clean out your closet, you’ll find pieces that you’ve forgotten about but can still be worn. Try to find creative ways to incorporate those long lost favorites (as well as those new favorites you love) and you’ll feel like you have an entirely new closet without having to spend a dime!
Alrighty, in our next post, stay tuned for ways to actually dive into the task of cleaning out your closets!

Christmas is almost here and while you may be thinking about all of the things you still have to do, Jammiegirl wants to take one thing off your list: Christmas morning breakfast. You want to make something special but you also don’t want to have to stress, so, we’ve put together another Jammiegirl-approved recipe that’s perfect for serving up on Christmas morning. It’s a make ahead dish that only takes about 50 minutes to make on the morning of, which is perfect timing. Just pop it in the oven when it’s time to open presents. By the time you’re finished, breakfast will be ready!
Oh yes, and did we mention that this recipe is so easy that it can be made while wearing your Christmas pajamas? It’s true! Now, enjoy your holiday and be stress free when it comes time to cook up something special by trying our holiday french toast recipe!
Holiday French Toast
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 teaspoons cinnamon
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 loaf Italian or French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
6 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Mix the brown sugar, butter, and one teaspoon of cinnamon into a 13×9-inch baking dish. Add the apples and cranberries and stir to coat well. Then, spread evenly along the bottom of the dish. Add the slices of bread on top evenly. Then, in a bowl, mix together the eggs, milk, vanilla, and remaining cinnamon until well blended. Pour over the bread and let it soak up completely. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
When you get up on Christmas morning, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Then bake, covered with foil, for 45 minutes (perfect for baking while everyone opens presents!). Then, remove the foil and bake for another 5 uncovered. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan for about 5 minutes so that it sets. Then, serve. Or, if you want a really cool presentation, flip the pan onto a serving platter (like a cake) and slice. Yum!
Happy Holidays from Jammiegirl!
Oh my goodness – Christmas is almost here!
But if you’re like me, you’re probably not all wrapped up with the cooking, present wrapping, and baking. Not to worry though – I’ve got the perfect recipe to share with you if you’re looking to whip up a batch of last minute holiday cookies for an upcoming party or even for just your friends, family, and coworkers!
This super simple sugar cookie dough can be made in to a ton of different cookies, all by adding something different. Sprinkles, chocolate candies, dried fruit, jam, coconut, etc….they all work perfectly with this basic cookie! Now, here’s what to do:
Ingredients
3 cups unbleached flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking soda. In another large bowl, combine the sugar and butter and beat until smooth. Then, add the eggs one at a time to the butter and sugar mixture. Then the vanilla. Mix well until smooth. Then, add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients a little bit at a time until well combined. Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours.
When you’re ready to make cookies, roll out the dough, make balls, or create cookie cutouts and bake at 350 degrees for about 8-12 minutes, depending on the thickness of the cookie, or until golden on the edges. Then, just decorate as you choose! Make jam thumbprint cookies, iced cutouts, or even some delicious cookies dipped in chocolate, all made with this one basic dough!
Did you make this recipe? How did you make the cookie your own? I’d love to hear how you used this dough to create something delicious
Enjoy hot chocolate with a pair of cocoa-themed pajamas this December!
The holidays are here and boy, am I excited to start celebrating! There’s just nothing cozier than curling up in a soft pair of flannel pajamas while indulging in a nice, big, hot cup of cocoa. Mmm…I can just taste that chocolately goodness thinking about it!
All month long, I was thinking that I would share some of my favorite Jammiegirl-approved recipes with you, but first off, let’s talk about what exactly IS a Jammiegirl-approved recipe. Well, for starters, these are yummy recipes that can be made in your jammies. They’re totally stress-free and delicious, without taking a lot of skill or effort. Any cook with any level of experience can make a Jammiegirl-approved recipe. Seriously – you can make any of the recipes I share in your favorite pair of flannel or thermal pajamas!
So, to start out this new December tradition, here’s one of my favorite hot cocoa recipes: Candy Cane Cocoa! Ready in minutes and totally indulgent, this hot chocolate recipe blends together creamy milk and whipped cream, rich chocolate, and refreshing peppermint to get a flavor that’s just oh-so-very good!
Candy Cane Cocoa
To make this super easy hot cocoa recipe, start out by heating up 4 cups of milk in a saucepan until hot, but not boiling (try medium low to medium heat). Then, whisk in 1 ounce (3 squares) of semisweet chocolate that’s been chopped up. When the chocolate starts to melt, also add in 4 peppermint candy canes that have been crushed. Let those melt in with the chocolate and milk until it becomes smooth. Then, pour the hot cocoa in to four mugs and garnish with whipped cream and a bit of crushed peppermint candy cane.
Yum! Tastes just like Christmas…oh! And this recipe is perfect for enjoying with our Cocoa Thermal Pajama Set!
 Sock Monkey Pajamas
WE LOVE SOCK MONKEYS!
Okay, maybe not just sock monkeys, but definitely sock monkey pajamas by Munki Munki. These are a customer favorite and we’d love for you to give them a try. They’re made with a super comfy blend of bamboo, cotton, and flannel with natural moisture wicking properites. They’re silky smooth and feature a fun sock monkey print — pretty cool, right?
Once you’ve got the jammies, all you need to do is snuggle up with a sock monkey and head to bed. What could be better?
To make your very own sock monkey, you’ll need two sock, scissors, stuffing, yarn, buttons, a sewing kit, and some time. That’s it!
First, find a pair of clean socks and if you can, find socks that have colored toes and heels. Then, turn the socks inside out. Make the of the socks into the legs and neck by laying it down with the heel flat facing down. Next, mark a line down the center of the sock about an inch from the heel. With the sock still folded flat, sew up one side of the line and back down the other side. You should have about a quarter inch space between the line and your seam. Then, cut the legs up the middle between the two seams. Turn and stuff the sock.
Next, decide where the neck of the monkey will be and stitch around the neck using quarter inch stitches with a sturdy thread. Pull the stitches snugly until you get the neck cinched to size. Knot the ends and round the head area with stuffing as needed. Then, stitch the top opening of the sock closed. After that, it’s time to cut up the second sock using this pattern.
Once the pieces are cut, sew and stuff them accordingly. Then, attach the arms, tail, ears, and nose. Stitch on button eyes. That’s it! Need help? Check out this easy article.
